The process of applying for a new gas connection in Pakistan is different for all three types of customers, which is why we have discussed them individually in detail below.
Domestic Gas Connection in Pakistan
Here are the step-by-step instructions for applying for domestic gas connection in Pakistan.
- First, you will need to obtain an application form to request a domestic gas connection for domestic use. This form is free of charge, readily available at your nearest Sui Gas office, or can be downloaded online.
- After filling the domestic gas connection form, submit it along with some mandatory documents including a copy of your identity card, a photocopy of the legal documents of the property to ascertain its size, and a neighbor’s gas bill.
- After submitting the documents you will receive an acknowledgment letter. As mentioned in the acknowledgment letter, it may take approximately 6 weeks for you to receive a response to your application.
- In the next step, a representative of the concerned gas authority will visit you for a complete site survey and sketch your foundation, which will then be submitted for approval.
Once the site is approved, a demand notice will be issued in the name of the applicant, which in this case is you. - The next step involves submitting a security deposit, which is calculated based on the area of the site (we have given more details on new domestic gas connection fees in Pakistan further down).
- After the above steps, a Consumer Master Card (CMC) is issued to the applicant, after which gas connection along with meter installation is provided within a week.
- Details about the new customer are then forwarded to the billing department, which manages the monthly billing process.
Commercial Gas Connection in Pakistan
The procedure for installing commercial gas connections in Pakistan is almost the same. However, one important thing that you should be aware of before applying for a commercial gas connection is that commercial customers are classified into two categories: low pressure commercial customers and high pressure commercial customers. . So, what are the key factors behind this ranking? Let’s find out.
Low Pressure Commercial Customers
A customer using 300 cubic feet of gas per hour is classified as a low pressure commercial customer.
The security deposit amount depends on the required gas load. However, service line charges for low pressure customers are PKR 5,000, fixed.
Monthly billing charges for low pressure commercial customers include withholding tax, sales tax, and meter rental.
High pressure commercial users
A customer who consumes more than 300 cubic feet of gas per hour is classified as a high pressure commercial customer.
The amount of security deposit and service line charges for high pressure customers depends on the gas load required.

Industrial gas connection in Pakistan
The process of gas connection for industrial use is almost the same as domestic gas connection. Following are some key points that define an entity as an industrial user:
- The entity is involved in the production of goods.
- The amount of gas load used exceeds the mark of 500 cubic feet per month.
- Premises survey is also taken into consideration before placing the applicant in commercial or industrial category.
- Important things to know about commercial and industrial gas connections
- Application processing fee for low pressure and high pressure commercial customers is PKR 500.
- On the other hand, no processing fee is charged to industrial customers.
- Tariffs for industrial customers are lower than for commercial customers.

- Photocopy of Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
- Photocopy of layout plan of house/building/factory premises
- National Tax Number (NTN) or Tax Return (TR) Certificate from Income Tax Department
- Photocopy of Registry of House/Building/Factory (if you own the property)
- Photocopy of lease agreement (if you are a tenant)
